Ameristar furnaces ARE the same as Trane and American standard furnaces (per trane tech support), except they don't have a painted finish. Even made in the same Trenton NJ factory. This furnace is about 40% cheaper here, on this site, than the same model in a Trane is from the local distributor.

Shipping was fast. Delivered on wood pallet. Installation took 2 days, primarily because of location of the unit inside and outside. Line set length was 46 feet, did not need to add extra 410a. For communication/power I used 14/4 mini split cable sold at hvac supply stores. Unit runs very quiet (inside and out) in Cooling mode, while hearing,the compressor ramps up and you can hear it a little. Use Vibration Dampening Nov 04, 2016

I finally got this installed and working. I like the copper heat exchanger and the compact size. I mounted the first one to concrete walls to avoid vibration above. It took some adjusting to get the louvers to stop vibrating and making noise. It looks like a slick little heater and I expect it will last longer than me. The only down side is the vibration from the fan. I'll have to cut the pipe and put in some vibration dampening. It carries the vibration through the pipes into the hangers... more
